Raising Young Scots Conference: Places Still Available

Places are still available at MacKay Hannah’s Raising Young Scots: Getting to Healthy, Wealthy and Wise conference on Thursday 2^nd November at the McDonald Rooms Conference Centre, 95 McDonald Road, Edinburgh, EH7 4NS. Ticket prices range from £190.

The conference will examine the challenges of raising healthy, wealthy and wise young Scots, regardless of their background, and will look at education and attainment, breaking barriers to attainment, promoting positive physical and mental health, and how to give young Scots a stake in their future.

Senscot Social Enterprise Café Survey

Senscot (in partnership with a number of different organisations), is exploring what purpose community cafés play within social enterprises in Scotland, and has launched a short online survey to gather feedback. They want to hear from social enterprise cafés, and social enterprises involved in community cafe type activity. The survey should only take a few minutes to complete; the deadline for responses is Friday 23rd August.

Workplace Equality Fund

The Workplace Equality Fund (WEF) 2019/2020 is now open for applications. £800,000 is available from Scottish Government for projects which can begin in October 2019, and complete by Monday 31st August 2020. Applicants can apply for a grant of £5000 – £50,000. The deadline for applications is Wednesday 28th August.

Consultation on Volunteers and Sexual Harassment in the Workplace

The UK Government’s Equalities Office has launched the Consultation on Sexual Harassment in the Workplace. The consultation is seeking views on extending protections to volunteers, and would like to hear from anyone who has experience of sexual harassment or other types of discrimination at work. The deadline for responses is 11:59pm on Wednesday 2nd October.

Upcoming Key Processes in Child Protection Training Course Dates

Falkirk Council’s Child Protection Committee has announced dates for its forthcoming Key Processes in Child Protection training course, taking place September – December 2019 at the Camelon Education Centre, Abercrombie Street, Falkirk, FK1 4HA on Friday 6th September, Friday 4th October, Friday 8th November, and Friday 13th December. Attendance is required 9:30am – 4:30pm, and pre-course reading will be sent approximately 2 weeks beforehand.
