Quiet Waters is a local Christian charity which provides free counselling, bereavement listening, and training. They are urgently looking for a new Chair of their Board of Trustees.
As Chair of the Board, your role would involve convening and chairing meetings of trustees 5 times per year, ensuring governance arrangements are in place and working effectively, keeping trustees’ knowledge base of relevant issues up to date, acting as spokesperson for the charity when appropriate, and addressing conflict if it arises within the charity in a fair and timely manner.
Additionally, alongside the Practice Manager, the chair will participate in the interviewing of new volunteers.
Other responsibilities include:
- meeting with staff to provide support
- represent the charity (assisted by other trustees) in meetings with supporters (eg local churches and schools)
- compliance with OSCR requirements
- stewardship of the charity’s financial position
- GDPR implementation
