This year’s Purple Friday will be Friday 28th February.
Purple Friday takes place on the last Friday in February each year, providing an opportunity to show support for LGBTI equality and stand against homophobia, biphobia and transphobia.
First celebrated in Canada in 2010, Purple Friday is named after the purple stripe on the LGBT rainbow flag, representing “spirit”.
This year, LGBT Youth Scotland has released a range of online resources, merchandise and a participation guide to help people get involved. This includes a Participation Map, where people can share their Purple Friday pictures on social media using the hashtag #PurpleFriday.
