Police Scotland’s Cybercrime Prevention team has released the June 2026 edition of Cyberbyte, their cybersecurity newsletter.
June’s edition focuses on tips to help people keep their accounts and devices safe when on holiday, such as being cautious about oversharing locations if away from home, fake WiFi awareness, the advantages to using a Virtual Private Network (VPN) and 2 Step Verification (2SV) for devices. There are also tips on data backups, and guidance from the National Cyber Security Centre (NSCS).
The team says:
“Holidays are essential for us to relax, but we also must remember scammers are always trying to swindle us, so we trust the links to guidance and tips within the Cyberbyte will support you with this element of your holiday planning.”
