Pause & Breathe is a Community Interest Company (CIC) based in Bonnybridge, run by husband and wife Susie Hooper and Phil Blackburn, and providing accessible wellbeing sessions, courses, and retreats (both online and offline) in and around Falkirk. They are currently looking for new volunteer Board Members.
Pause & Breathe’s mission is that participants will be more able to manage their stress and anxiety, which will impact positively on their mental, emotional and physical health. Their values include: accessibility, inclusivity, compassion, equality, respect and balance.
Thanks to funding from the People’s Postcode Lottery, and Boost It Funding from Firstport, Pause & Breathe is in the process of expanding: as well as their full-time Managing Director, they have recently been recruiting for a part-time Administrative Assistant and part-time Marketing Specialist. They are also in the process of looking for suitable premises, and during this time of growth, want to develop their board membership.
Their Managing Director worked as a Criminal Justice Social Worker for 20 years, and they aim to work in prisons, facilitating Mindfulness courses and holding Listening Circles.
Diversity and inclusion are central to Pause & Breathe’s values and the way they operate, and they are actively seeking to enhance the diversity of their board and welcome applicants from diverse backgrounds. Volunteers must have at least one of the following skills:
- experience in evaluating and monitoring Social Impact
- experience in creating funding applications
- strategic planning
All applications for the role are welcomed; however, the following skills, knowledge and experience would be advantageous:
- a general understanding or interest in the health and wellbeing sector
- the ability to work effectively as part of a team
- understanding of good governance for CICs
- knowledge of the third sector
- previous experience of being on a Board
The Board meets quarterly, though this may increase during times of change. The role is unpaid, but reasonable expenses will be reimbursed.
The deadline for applications to this role is Saturday 1st October.
To apply, please send a note of interest, a CV (or link to your LinkedIn profile), why you would be a good fit for the Pause & Breathe board (plus examples of the skills listed above) by email: pause@pauseandbreathe.co.uk
