PATH (Scotland) has a Housing Traineeship available, as part of their 36 month Positive Action Training Scheme.
The scheme has been specifically designed to redress under-representation of black and minority ethnic (BME) communities in employment in Scottish housing. PATH (Scotland) works in collaboration with Local Authority Housing Departments and Registered Social Landlords (RSLs) across Scotland to provide housing training opportunities; this particular traineeship is in partnership with Blackwood.
The traineeship has an allowance of £9 per hour (equivalent to £13,104 per annum), and will gain work experience in Scottish housing, specialist qualifications and professional memberships.
Applicants must be willing to undertake a training and study programme over 36 months (over 4 days’ work experience between Monday and Friday, inclusive of one day’s attendance at college or university during the academic year).
The successful candidates will have experience of dealing with a range of agencies, an awareness of social housing issues and the duties of a RSL, with an ability to deliver a high standard of customer service, and excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools (with an ability to quickly learn and use other systems).
They will be able to deal sympathetically with difficult situations and have confident communication skills, both written and verbal.
Please note that due to the nature of the Positive Action Training Scheme, it is reserved for applicants from BME communities, under section 158 of the Equality Act 2010.
The scheme is currently supported by Local Authorities and Housing Associations across Scotland.
The deadline for applications is 12:30pm on Tuesday 27th August. Interviews will be held on Tuesday 3rd September at the Blackwood offices in Glasgow.
