The Community Empowerment (Scotland) Act 2015 introduces a new way for communities to get involved in how the council and other public sector services are planned and delivered, called Participation Requests.
Participation Requests came into force on Saturday 1st April, and are focused on extending and improving community participation in improving outcomes for communities. This enables communities to request to participate in decisions and processes which are aimed at improvement.
This does not replace anything that is already in place, but provides an additional way in which communities can work with the public sector.
Useful information on Participation Requests and the Community Empowerment Act can be found on the Scottish Community Development Centre and Scottish Government websites.
