Scotland’s charity regulator has announced a full revision of its key guidance for charities and applicants, and has called on the sector and the public to give feedback on its draft publication. Read the draft guidance here .
Key features of the updated guidance include a less formal tone, case study examples and web-based sections that allow users to navigate easily between areas of particular interest to their own organisations.
Meeting the Charity Test was last updated in November 2008. Since then, the Regulator has granted status to 9,695 charities and conducted reviews into all of the country’s fee-charging schools as well as producing a report earlier this year into the independence of Arms’ Length External Organisations (ALEOs) from the local authorities that establish them.

The consultation will run from 3 March to 26 May 2015, with the final guidance due for publication in the Summer.
