The Money Advice Trust, a charity formed in 1991 with the aim of helping people across the UK to tackle their debts and manage their money wisely, has opened its 2016 Innovation Grants scheme.
The scheme aims to fund projects which empower individuals and microbusinesses to tackle their debts and improve their financial health and support staff in charities across the UK to provide effective debt and/or money advice.
The aim of the programme is to identify and develop replicable new approaches or services that improve the UK’s money and debt environment. For this funding round, the Trust is also particularly interested in supporting projects that develop cost effective ways to engage with clients to develop their money skills, overcome barriers to accessing advice using established channels, and support low income, self-employed clients.
There is a two stage applications process. Applicants will need to register their interest by the 5th July 2015. If selected to be taken forward, applicants will be invited to make a second stage application. Final funding decisions will be made in December. The Trust aim to have all funded projects beginning in April 2016.
