As part of their 2024 “Dignity First” campaign, Money Advice Scotland is holding an in-person event on Thursday 21st March, 10am – 2pm in Glasgow (venue to be confirmed).
Dignity First aims to challenge and transform conversations, language and communication about money, debt, and financial challenges, based on compassion. Money Advice Scotland believes that people experiencing financial challenges deserve to access and receive support without fear of judgement, but that stigma continues to have a significant impact on peoples’ willingness to seek help, and their journey towards financial wellbeing. Dignity First is built on their belief that language holds the key, and that by changing language used, this stigma can be challenged, and barriers that hinder access to money and debt advice dismantled.
The March event plans to explore the current debt language landscape and impact of stigmatising language, as well as the challenges faced in transforming communication about financial difficulties.
This event has been designed to bring together stakeholders from the money advice sector, as well as insolvency practitioners, creditors, and financial institutions, to move forward as a collective determined to break stigma in money and debt.
The event will feature:
- keynote speakers
- a panel discussion with Q&A
- roundtable activities and experience exchange
- the opportunity to network
The venue and full agenda will be confirmed in due course. Multiple delegates from each group or organisation are welcome to attend.
