Earlier in November, the new Mental Health and Wellbeing Workforce Action Plan, and the Strategy Delivery Plan were announced in Scottish Parliament by Maree Todd MSP, Minister for Social Care, Mental Wellbeing and Sport. Both Plans are published jointly with the Convention of Scottish Local Authorities (COSLA).
The scope and direction of actions was developed with the help of over 20 organisations, including input from CVS Falkirk & District.
The Strategy sets out Scottish Government and COSLA’s vision of “a Scotland free from stigma and inequality, where every person fulfils their right to achieve the best mental health and wellbeing possible”. It recognises that a highly effective mental health system must address all levels of need, from maintaining good mental wellbeing, to the support available in communities, to recognising and responding to the many underlying social determinants, circumstances and inequalities that can affect people’s mental health and wellbeing.
The Strategy Delivery Plan sets out the actions Scottish Government and COSLA will take over the next 18 months to make progress towards delivering the outcomes and priorities identified in the Strategy.
