Forth Valley Top Toes provides a personal footcare service to older and disabled people who are unable to clip their own toenails. The clients receive toenail clipping every 8-10 weeks and are given a foot care check by a Personal Footcare Volunteer.
Most of us do not give a lot of consideration to having our nails cut but left unchecked they can affect your balance, mobility, confidence and can lead to more long-term conditions. Difficulties with eyesight, mobility and grip can mean managing your foot care can become a real problem. Our service aims to do what you would do for yourself if you were able.
All our Personal Footcare Volunteers have been trained by NHS Forth Valley and have learned the skills to carry out basic foot assessments, nail clipping, filing, and foot care advice.
