London North Eastern Railway (LNER) is making grants of up to £10,000 available to support local communities and address areas of social need along the train operator’s network.
Funding aims to support projects that focus on mental health, education and employability skills amongst marginalised groups within 15 miles of the East Coast Mainline. It also supports projects that promote diversity and inclusion, as well as environmental sustainability. This funding is available to charities, community groups, community rail partnerships, local authorities, business partnerships, schools and other not-for-profit organisations, with preference given to small and medium charities, over larger charities.
LNER’s Customer and Community Investment Fund (CCIF) provides vital funding to small and medium sized projects that deliver a positive impact aligned with LNER priorities: Better for People, Better for Places and Better for Planet:
- Fostering a culture of equality, that champions diversity and inclusivity.
- Creating a culture of positive mental health, bringing people and communities together.
- Creating skilled and inclusive communities along our networks that can thrive.
- Conserve resources, reduce waste and reuse where possible.
They are looking for factual and concise applications, that clearly outline the identified need, how this was identified, the project deliverables and how the grant will be spent. Funding will need to be spent in full, and projects completed within the financial year (April to March), in which the funding is gifted. Useful documents to review prior to applying:
