The LNER Customer and Communities Investment Fund (CCIF) is open for applications.
The CCIF aims to support charities, LNER customers, and the communities of their route, focusing on causes that are of key importance to LNER, which includes the fund’s core themes: mental health, education and employability skills, diversity and inclusion, and environmental sustainability.
Changes from previous rounds include:
- the maximum amount that can be applied for is now £50,000
- preference will be given to small and medium charities, over larger charities
- a new environmental focus area (including biodiversity, sustainable travel, waste reduction and the circular economy)
Eligibility
Applications should be located within 10 – 15 miles of the east coast mainline (where there is an identified social need), and outline how the project will work with the community to mitigate the social need, helping to create a more inclusive, prosperous and connected community.
Funding will need to be spent in full, and projects must be completed within the financial year (April – March) in which the funding is gifted.
Full eligibility information (including what is outside the criteria and therefore not eligible) is available in the LNER Charitable Giving Policy.

The deadline for applications to this round is 11:59pm on Sunday 24th September 2023.
