Lead Scotland FREE Online Safety Classes

Lead Scotland will hold a series of FREE online safety classes throughout February, covering a variety of common online safety issues such as password security, and online scams.

The classes are aimed at disabled people or those who may find it harder to use the internet safely, and carers who care for someone who needs extra support using their digital device safely, however the classes are open to anyone who would benefit from attending.

Classes last one hour, and are held twice during the month, with the first class, “How to Create Strong Passwords”, taking place on Monday 1st February at 12pm.

  • How to Create Strong Passwords:
    • Monday 1st February, 12pm
    • Monday 22nd February, 10am 
  • How to Remember Your Passwords:
    • Wednesday 3rd February, 12pm
    • Tuesday 23rd February, 10am
  • Online Scams: How to Spot Them And What to Do:
    • Monday 8th February, 12pm
    • Monday 22nd February, 3pm
  • Learn More About Complex Online Scams:
    • Wednesday 10th February, 12pm
    • Tuesday 23rd February, 3pm
  • Cyber Attacks: What to Do And Where to Get Help:
    • Monday 15th February, 12pm
    • Wednesday 24th February, 12pm
  • How to Promote Digital Safety in an Accessible Manner:
    • Wednesday 17th February, 12pm
    • Thursday 25th February, 12pm
  • How to Promote Digital Safety to Those With Low IT Confidence:
    • Friday 19th February, 12pm
    • Friday 26th February, 12pm

Volunteers’ Week 2021

Free tickets are now available for the Sunday Mail Young Scot Awards 2021. The awards will take place online on Thursday 22nd April from 7pm, and celebrate the inspiring achievements of Scotland’s young people in the last year, and heir incredible contribution to local communities.

Social Isolation and Loneliness Fund 2021

Applications are now open for Impact Funding Partners’ Social Isolation and Loneliness Fund 2021. The total fund value available is £54,000 and organisations across Scotland can apply for up to £1,500 to enable them to tackle social isolation, loneliness, wellbeing and the impact of COVID-19 on communities. Eligible activities must take place between Monday 24th May – Friday 27th August, and be in addition to what groups are already delivering. The deadline for applications is Friday 30th April.

Connectivity and Data Top-Up Fund Extended

Falkirk Council’s Fairer Falkirk Team has announced that the Connectivity and Data Top-Up Fund has been extended until the end of April 2021. The Fairer Falkirk Team will provide £25 for connectivity to individuals living on a low income (eg. households in receipt of Council Tax Reduction). People who have already received a payment are eligible for another payment if their supporting organisations and groups believe they would benefit from it.
