Falkirk Council is currently offering locally-based organisations free support to encourage staff to walk, cycle, use public transport and share a lift more often.
It’s all part of the highly regarded Take the Right Route campaign, which the council has been successfully delivering since 2008.
Support on offer includes:
- personalised travel planning, which involves provision of bespoke travel information and incentives to encourage staff to take more journeys on foot, bike, bus, train or in shared cars.
- essential cycling skills and commuter cycling training – providing the opportunity for people to learn new skills or refresh old ones; and
- guided bike rides – helping people discover local rides, cycling infrastructure and interesting places to visit.
These activities are usually delivered on-site by Falkirk Council staff at a convenient time for you and your organisation.
This year Falkirk Council is also working alongside the Communities Along the Carron Association [CATCA] to support the delivery of a Journey Challenge event.
The event is open to workplaces around Falkirk, which will compete to clock up the most journeys by foot, bike, public transport, car share and motorbike.
The event will run from 1st -31st March 2016 and aims to get workplaces travelling more actively and sustainably.
