Our colleagues at Clackmannanshire TSI (CTSI) are holding an online workshop on “Influencing Services Using Participation Requests”, taking place on Thursday 10th September, 1:30pm – 4pm.
The workshop is open to groups and organisations across the whole Forth Valley, including all of Falkirk, covering how they can start a discussion with decision makers about improving public services, through participation requests.
Participation requests are part of the Community Empowerment (Scotland) Act. Over the last 2 years, community groups across Scotland have been making them to public bodies such as local authorities and health boards.
The workshop aims to help attendees:
- understand what participation requests are
- think about whether they are a good approach for attendees’ groups
- learn how to make one
- know more about working with others to improve public services
Delivered by Paul Nelis from Scottish Community Development Centre (SCDC), the workshop will be particularly relevant to community groups with protected characteristics or who are experiencing poverty, as well as anyone who supports or works with these groups.
