Falkirk Health and Social Care Partnership (HSCP) are seeking to recruit a new third sector representative to the Integration Joint Board (IJB).
The role provides the representative with an opportunity to help the IJB with the planning, management and delivery of health and social care services in the Falkirk Council area.
Applicants must currently be part of a third sector organisation which delivers health and/or social care services in the Falkirk area. Experience of a similar role, while helpful, is not essential, as relevant training and support will be provided to the representative throughout their time on the IJB.
Role of the Representative
The role of third sector representative includes:
- participation in initial induction and training sessions, which will be held for all new representatives
- attending the IJB meetings as the third sector representative, initially monthly, with the possibility of becoming quarterly
- occasional attendance at local and national events or sub-group meetings
- willingness to learn about and understand the broad range of services for which the IJB will have responsibility
- preparing for the meetings to ensure that they can contribute in a constructive and informed manner
- participation in the meetings, such as offering ideas, opinions and solutions which reflect the voice of the local third sector
- keeping abreast of local and national news and developments in relation to the third sector
- representing the work of the IJB and reporting decisions to other third sector organisations
The representative will be appointed as a member to the IJB for 2 years, though they can step down earlier if they wish to, and will be supported.
IJB meetings, training, and information sessions will generally be scheduled to take place within traditional working hours; to assist representatives to fully participate, reasonable expenses will be provided, if required.
Nomination and Recruitment Process
In order to recruit a representative a drop-in information session will be held on Monday 3rd June, 2pm – 4pm at the Forth Valley Sensory Centre, Redbrae Road, Camelon, FK1 4DD. The session is open to any third sector nominee who is interested in finding out more about the role.
Appointments to discuss the role can also be made with Jen Kerr, CEO of CVS Falkirk, who also sits on the IJB.
Only one nomination will be accepted from each organisation. Nominations should include a personal profile of no more than 400 words and state:
- why you are interested in becoming a representative
- what experience and skills you bring to the role
- for employees, a declaration that your Board or Management Committee has approved your nomination and you will be released as required (this does not have to be included within 400 word profile)
Anyone not meeting the above criteria will be eliminated from the ballot.
The deadline for nominations is 5pm on Friday 14th June.
All nominations will be considered against the above criteria and a shortlist will be formed. The meeting to shortlist nominations will take place on Friday 21st June. Following this meeting, nominees will be provided with feedback.
The profiles of shortlisted candidates will be published on the CVS Falkirk website, and will also be available to request as paper.
Third sector organisations will have the opportunity to vote for their representatives online Monday 1st July – Friday 26th July. Only one vote per organisation will be allowed.
The lead representative will be the person who receives the highest number of votes, the substitute will be the person who receive the second highest number of votes.
