Do you want to help shape how £20m will be invested to improve the future of The Braes Villages and Hallglen? The new Pride in Place Neighbourhood Board is looking for a volunteer Chair to lead the project and play a part in setting long‑term priorities through the Pride in Place programme.
The Pride in Place Programme is a £20 million, ten-year UK government-funded initiative designed to strengthen neighbourhoods by investing in community-led priorities. It aims to create lasting improvements in health, wellbeing, and opportunity which last far beyond the initial commitment, through collaboration between residents, local organisations, and statutory partners. The Braes Villages & Hallglen has been awarded funding through this initiative, offering a unique chance to shape a brighter, healthier and more prosperous future for residents.
The Neighbourhood Board will be made up of local residents, business and community representatives – all coming together to agree what matters most locally and develop a long-term Investment Plan. Whilst local councillors and the MP for Falkirk will be members, the Board must be a majority non-political group with decision making resting with the community. The Chair role is voluntary, non‑political and not open to elected officials.
The Chair’s responsibilities include:
- convening and chairing Board meetings, supporting fair and inclusive discussion
- helping recruit and support a resident-majority Board
- building participation from residents, community groups, businesses and partner organisations
- leading development of the 10-year Investment Plan
- supporting community engagement, including with lesser-heard voices
- representing the Board externally
- supporting governance, including managing conflicts of interest and meeting reporting requirements
The expected commitment includes around eight Board meetings each year, plus community engagement activity and involvement in regional learning. Falkirk Council will also provide support, guidance and training for the Board and its Chair.
How to Apply: Interested candidates should complete an Expression of Interest form and email it to PrideInPlace@falkirk.gov.uk, including a summary of relevant skills and experience, and links to the area as well as the contact details for two references who can confirm suitability for the role. The role will require a Disclosure Scotland check, and the Chair will be required to maintain a register of interests and follow relevant governance standards.
The closing date for applications is Thursday 26 March 2026, with candidates invited for interview from Wednesday 1 April 2026.
