Charities are advised to ask HMRC for concessions regarding pre-printed collection envelopes, after the changes to Gift Aid regulations.
According to Bates Wells Braithwaits solicitors, churches who lobbied HMRC to be allowed to use up their existing pre-printed collection envelopes have been successful. The new regulations state that new Gift Aid declaration wording must be used from April 2016; however, churches will now be allowed to use up their existing stock.
As a result, Bill Lewis from Bates Wells Braithwaits says that, “Any charities or CASCs likely to be in a similar situation, with stock not used up by April next year, should consider asking HMRC for a similar concession.”
