A consultation of current and future charity fundraising regulation will be held on Thursday 21st April 2016, 2:30 – 4:30pm at the CVS Falkirk office, Unit 6, Callendar Business Park, Callendar Road, Falkirk, FK1 1XR.
The event, held by the Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations (SCVO), is open to third sector organisations and asks, “How do you think charity fundraising should be regulated in Scotland?”
In 2015 fundraisers, and the charities they work for, faced unprecedented criticism for the methods they use to generate income. Recognising the need to regain public trust and confidence, SCVO and the National Council for Voluntary Organisations (NCVO) reviewed the current self-regulatory approach to fundraising, reporting their findings in the autumn of 2015.
The resulting Scottish Fundraising Working Group is addressing the recommendations of these reviews, as described in the consultation document and its executive summary. In particular, it has developed options for a new regulatory approach to fundraising that would be simpler, and easier for the public to understand.
This event gives people a chance to hear what the options mean for their organisation, and to give their views. A final recommendation, which takes into account the views of the sector and public, will be made to the Scottish Government and other stakeholders in June 2016.
