ALISON Online Learning are now offering a free course in Delivering Community Development.
Delivering Community Development is the second in a series of free online courses which aims to guide participants in the delivery of a successful community development project. The course will also advise participants on how to maintain momentum during a community development project, and how to evaluate the effectiveness of the project.
Using community health as a springboard for understanding community development, the course will cover skills needed in delivering community-based projects, such as effective communication and facilitation techniques, how to prepare presentations, and key leadership skills.
Participants will learn about media communication techniques, such as writing a press release or answering difficult questions. The course also reviews how to work with other organisations in the community and how to identify the key factors that make a successful partnership.
There will be information on fundraising, its phases, and the pros and cons of different types of fundraising, and the importance of volunteering as a resource, including advice on volunteer recruitment, and tips on how to create a successful volunteer programme.
Finally, the course will teach evaluation methods, and how to sustain progress in community groups and projects.
