The Focus On Grangemouth group will be holding an information event on Saturday 16th April 2016, 9:30am – 1:30pm at the Bowhouse Community Centre, Grangemouth, FK3 0EU.
The event aims to allow groups in Grangemouth to share information about their work, and discuss the issues the group wish to see addressed with over the coming years. A crèche and free lunch will be provided.
Productive Parents, Make It Happen and the Forth Valley Migrant Support Network have been working with Falkirk Council and the Scottish Community Development Centre (SCDC) to help link local organisations across the town and be more effective in representing their interests.
They created the Focus On Grangemouth group in order to celebrate achievements in Grangemouth, and to ensure stronger working relationships between groups, for the benefit of people living in the town.
Specifically, as the Community Empowerment Act (2015) is implemented, the group want to make sure their local communities have more power to influence services for everyone, including:
- New powers to acquire assets
- Right to participate in decision making
- Addressing inequalities
- Democratic renewal
