Falkirk’s Mental Health Association (FDAMH) has various upcoming training courses available to people living within the Falkirk District area, including:
- Promoting Better Sleep
Taking place on Monday 5th February, Monday 19th February, and Monday 4th March for 2 hours each, this course is also fully funded and available to people living in Falkirk District for free.
Disturbed and lack of sleep can be caused by a number of reasons, and often impacts on people’s lives, moods and cognitive abilities. The course looks at both the mechanics of sleep and ways to examine sleep preparation, sleep quota and what barriers people may have to overcome to get a better sleep regime.

- Managing Menopause
Funded by the Falkirk Communities Mental Health and Wellbeing Fund for Adults, this course is available free of charge to anyone living in Falkirk District.
Managing Menopause is designed to be an informative and supportive short course, aiming to help women deal with the psychological effects menopause can bring, such as anxiety and brain fog. The course consists of 4 in-person sessions (each lasting 2 hours) at the FDAMH office (address above), with a follow-up online reconnector.

- COSCA Certificate in Counselling Skills
An accredited SQA Level 8 course, COSCA is aimed at anybody looking to improve their understanding of other people, as well as themselves, and enhance the quality of personal relationships, and improve workplace performance. This course is also a foundation for further counselling study.
The FDAMH course is available to anyone throughout Scotland, and begins on Friday 1st March, with all sessions taking place in-person at FDAMH’s offices, 173 Victoria Road, Falkirk, FK2 7AU. The course will last for 4 months, finishing at the end of June 2024.
COSCA teaches advanced, practical communication skills, developed through a combination of theory and hands-on practice, helping develop listening and attention, effective communication, and advanced relational skills. No previous experience or qualifications are required. Places are £1,300 each (payment plans can be organised).
