FDAMH Training Courses

Falkirk District Association for Mental Health (FDAMH) are holding various training courses in the coming months:

Assertiveness Workshop

The Assertiveness Workshop takes place on Friday 22nd September, 9:30am – 3:30pm at Glenbervie Care Home, Glenbervie Business Park, Bellsdyke Road, Larbert, FK5 4EG.

Participants will learn tools to be more assertive in their personal and professional lives, along with the power of body language and how to say what they need in a positive and productive way.  Places are £60 each.

Introduction to Counselling

The Introduction to Counselling course starts on Monday 25th September, 7pm – 9pm, and runs each Monday for 8 weeks, at a cost of £200 per delegate.

The course aims to help attendees gain an insight into what it means to be a counsellor, while learning new skills and techniques they can use in their personal and professional lives to improve communication.

Understanding Self-harm

Understanding Self-harm takes place on Tuesday 3rd October, 6pm – 9pm at FDAMH’s office, 173 Victoria Road, Falkirk, FK2 7AU.

The 3 hour course aims to teach attendees about the different ways self-harm can manifest itself, how they can broach the conversation effectively and safely, and how to help those affected by self-harm.

Places are £52 each.

Understanding Eating Disorders

Understanding Eating Disorders will be held on Tuesday 24th October, 6pm – 9pm at FDAMH’s office, 173 Victoria Road, Falkirk, FK2 7AU.

Attendees will learn about the physical and psychological impact of eating disorders, the signs and symptoms people often hide, and how to help them begin to recover.

Places are £52 each.

Managing Anxiety

The Managing Anxiety course begins on Thursday 26th October, 2pm – 4pm, and runs for 8 weeks at FDAMH’s office, 173 Victoria Road, Falkirk, FK2 7AU.

Participants will learn practical ways to manage and reduce their stress and anxiety while gaining a better understanding of why anxiety happens and commonly associated conditions such as stress, depression and panic attacks.  Places are £60 per person.

Volunteer Scotland Disclosure and PVG Online Training Sessions

In January, February and March, Volunteer Scotland is holding regular, short online training courses on all aspects of their Disclosure Services, aiming to provide information the various aspects of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme that attendees may need for their role in their voluntary organisation. Neighbourhood Networks Community Living Worker Vacancies

Neighbourhood Networks is currently recruiting for 3 Community Living Workers, based in the Grangemouth/Bo’ness, Denny, and Falkirk/Larbert areas. The positions are 16 hours per week, with a wage of £10.01 per hour (£19,519.50 (pro-rata) per annum). The deadline for applications is 12pm on Monday 29th January.

Forth Valley COVID-19 Partnership: Funding Programme Open

The Forth Valley COVID-19 Partnership has launched a new grants programme, distributing funds to support communities and people affected by COVID-19 outside of hospital. The new Community Partnership Grants Programme will distribute £126,000 of local grants, and is open to any registered charity, community interest company (CIC), community or voluntary group with a bank account delivering services in the Forth Valley area. The closing date for Phase One is Monday 1st February.
