Falkirk and District Association for Mental Health (FDAMH) are recruiting new volunteers to support their telephone befriending service.
The service aims to reduce loneliness and isolation and increase mental wellbeing for people over 60, by matching them with a volunteer and arranging a weekly telephone call between them at a mutually suitable time. Each call will last for around 30 minutes.
Volunteers should be reliable and patient, with good communication and listening skills, enjoy working with older people, and understand the importance of maintaining confidentiality. As this is a telephone befriending service only, volunteers will not meet face to face with the elderly person.
