With just over 6 WEEKS to go until Falkirk Funders Fayre 2024, we’re delighted to announce another TWO new stallholders attending for the first time: Local Energy Scotland and Edinburgh Airport Community Fund!
Spotlights
- Local Energy Scotland
We’re very excited to be welcoming the team from Local Energy Scotland, who manage Scottish Government’s Community and Renewable Energy Scheme (CARES).
CARES supports communities across Scotland to engage with, participate in and benefit from the energy transition to net zero emissions. Through CARES, Local Energy Scotland offers a range of financial support and advice to community groups to get local energy projects up and running. The service is free and impartial, with support from the team at every stage – from initial planning, through development and funding applications, right up to and beyond the launch.
Local Energy Scotland can also direct groups and organisations to other useful sources of funding and support, including those from other organisations they work with.
They also have a range of funding initiatives, including the Community Heat Development Programme (which works with eligible community organisations and groups of householders to help develop their ideas for locally-generated, low and zero carbon heat project ideas), and the Let’s Do Net Zero Community Buildings Fund (help community organisations reduce their building energy costs and greenhouse gas emissions by installing renewable technologies, with the Fund planned to run until the end of March 2025, subject to funding availability).
For further information on Local Energy Scotland and CARES ahead of their first visit to Falkirk Funders Fayre, please visit their website.
- Edinburgh Airport Community Fund
The Community Fund was established to ensure local communities share in the success of Scotland’s busiest airport. It provides financial support to community groups and charities committed to improving opportunities, facilities, and services available to local people.
This year, it will award up to £300,000 to local projects throughout 2024.
The fund aims to:
- offer meaningful support to local groups, organisations, and charities in communities impacted by Edinburgh Airport’s operations
- make a positive difference to those who could benefit from additional funding and potential increased public exposure
- fulfil the airport’s aspirational commitment to be a trusted neighbour that provides tangible benefits to its community
The Community Fund consists of key representatives from Edinburgh Airport and the local community who each provide independent evaluations of applications. Applications for the April meeting are now open – the meeting will take place on Friday 19th April (exactly one month after the Funders Fayre!), which means that the deadline for applications is Friday 5th April, 2 weeks in advance of the meeting date. We recommend that anyone looking to speak to the team at Funders Fayre begins planning their application and questions as soon as possible in order to make this deadline.
However, meetings for the Community Fund are triannual, occurring in Spring, Summer, and Autumn, and reopen approximately 6 weeks after the previous meeting.
For further information, including all application criteria and guidance to begin planning your application before next month’s event, please visit the dedicated Edinburgh Airport Community Fund page.

We can’t wait to welcome them and everyone else to our 10th anniversary event!
