Falkirk Community Trust are currently looking for volunteers for 3 of their new opportunities:
- Meet and Greet
- Roadie
- Marshall
Meet and Greet
Volunteers will be the welcoming face of The Helix as people arrive into the park. This opportunity will suit someone who enjoys meeting new people, is friendly, out-going and enthusiastic.
Helix Event Volunteers are a team of volunteers that support a wide variety of events, big and small, free and ticketed at Helix Park. The Meet & Greet role is about more than welcoming people to The Helix. Depending on the event it can involve activities such as:
– Directing pedestrians in the park
– Registering people into an activity
– Helping check and/or scan tickets
– Giving out information (either by chatting or with leaflets)
– Give out equipment people need to take part in the event
Roadie
This is a hands-on, physical ad-hoc opportunity that enables volunteers to support the delivery of events in The Helix for all to enjoy. Roadies help set up equipment such as gazebos, crowd control barriers, and signs before an event takes place. The same may be necessary at the end of an event. This gives volunteers the privilege to enjoy the event inbetween carrying out their volunteer duties.
Roadies are kept fit and active by being hands on before and after events at The Helix. If volunteers enjoy being active, outdoors and part of something bigger then this is the opportunity for them. Volunteers will not be expected to carry out any duties they feel are too heavy or technical these will be passed onto to the relevant member of staff or contractor.
Marshall
Marshalling events is a great way to get involved in The Helix and events in the community. It is an important role as it allows everyone to enjoy The Helix whatever the reason for their visit. Marshalls helps keep people safe by ensuring people know where they are going, and sometimes where not to go.
Marshalls receive an induction before each event and then are expected to pass this information onto the public, such as pointing out hazards and highlighting a route of a sporting event. Due to the variety of events at the Helix, some will be very large and busy; others may be quieter, smaller events.
Volunteers choose which events suit their interests and availability. An added benefit to volunteering at events is that volunteers will get to enjoy part or all of the event, depending on what is happening on the day.
All of the opportunities are open to those aged 16 and over. They are based at The Helix, Falkirk, with the times of events varying; therefore, these opportunities are ad-hoc, allowing the volunteer to choose which events suit them best.
