SUMMARY:Online Scottish Mental First Aid Training for Trainers
DESCRIPTION:Public Health Scotland (PHS) is hosting an online Scottish Mental Health First Aid (SMHFA) Training for Trainers course in February 2026; applications are now open. \nThe course supports national priorities to ensure workforces are confident and competent in responding to mental health needs. Places are limited to 12 participants across Scotland and are prioritised for those working in: \n\nhealth and social care (including emergency responders and community pharmacy)\nfrontline supporters\, including those working in:\n\ndebt and money advice\, housing and homelessness\, violence against women and girls\, community justice\, and addictions services\ntransport (eg. bus and taxi drivers)\nhospitality and retail (including hairdressers and barbers)\, leisure\, fitness and sport\nthose working with specific minority group such asylum seekers and refugees\, Gypsy Traveller groups\, care experienced people\, and other minoritised groups\n\n\neducation (including higher and further education\, counsellors\, and youth work)\nthird sector agencies\, including voluntary and community groups and organisations\, and charities\n\nTo be eligible for a place\, applicants must: \n\nhave already completed the 2 day SMHFA course within the last 12 months\, and be able to provide dates of when this was undertaken (please note the course must have been completed prior to application)\nbe available and must attend all dates of the online 5 day course:\n\nMonday 16 February 2026\nTuesday 17 February 2026\nWednesday 18 February 2026\nWednesday 25 February 2026\nThursday 26 February 2026\n\n\n\nPlease note that the course is intensive\, and participants will need to be free of other commitments during the time allocated to complete any required development or skills practice elements of the course. Additionally\, at this time this course will not give participants the skills to deliver the SMHFA 2 day course online. This delivery mode option is available for the Training for Trainers course only. \nAs there are only 12 places available across Scotland\, there is an anticipated high number of applications. As a result\, PHS are unable to provide feedback should your application be unsuccessful. \nKey Dates\n\nThe deadline for applications is Friday 30 January 2026. SUMMARY:Health and Wellbeing Forum: February 2026 Meeting
DESCRIPTION:CVS Falkirk & District’s next Health and Wellbeing Forum will take place on Wednesday 25 February 2026\, from 10am-12pm\, and will be held online via MS Teams. \nThis forum will include a deafblind awareness taster training session\, giving participants the opportunity to explore some of the everyday issues faced by deafblind people and to develop confidence in engaging with individuals with combined sight and hearing loss. \nThe session will be led by Ruth Hart\, Senior Programme Leader at Deafblind Scotland\, and will cover: \n\nDeafness\, visual impairment and deafblindness\nThe definition of deafblindness\nKey considerations when engaging with deafblind people\nCommunication methods\nAn introduction to deafblind manual skills\n\nThe forum will also feature a presentation from Chloe Mackie\, Registered Manager at the British Red Cross (Health and Care)\, who will provide an overview of the Falkirk Care At Home service. \nChaired by Eloise Wilson\, Partnership Development Manager at CVS Falkirk & District\, there will also be time for member updates\, open discussion\, and any other business. \nThis session is open to forum members and partners with an interest in health\, wellbeing\, and inclusive practice across Falkirk and the surrounding area. \nFor further information\, and to receive the MS Teams invite link for this meeting\, please email info@cvsfalkirk.org.uk

SUMMARY:Connecting Volunteering Network: February 2026 Meeting
DESCRIPTION:CVS Falkirk & District’s next Connecting Volunteering Network will take place on Wednesday 25 February 2026\, 10am – 12pm online via Microsoft Teams. The network is for anyone involved in supporting or managing volunteers\, and provides a space to meet\, network\, discuss topics relevant to volunteering within the third sector\, and share experiences. \nWe will be joined by Duncan from Volunteer Scotland Disclosure Services who will speak about ‘Helping the Voluntary Sector Recruit Fairly’ which will cover information around convictions and what to do if there are convictions on a person’s disclosure. If there is any interest and time allows\, Duncan is also happy to discuss PVG and the 2025 changes.
