SUMMARY:Scottish Mental Health First Aid Training
DESCRIPTION:Staff and volunteers living or working in the Falkirk District are invited to attend a 2 day Scottish Mental Health First Aid (SMHFA) course on Tuesday 7 October and Tuesday 14 October 2025\, 9:30am – 4:30pm. \nThe in-person training is aimed at those who want to help someone with mental health problems\, whether in a professional or personal capacity. It focuses on early intervention and aims to equip participants with the knowledge and skills to provide initial help before professional support is available. \nParticipants will learn how to offer comfort during distress\, recognise signs of suicide risk\, promote mental health recovery and understanding\, and how to apply the 5 steps of ALGEE: \n\nA – Assess for risk\nL – Listen non-judgmentally\nG – Give support and information\nE – Encourage appropriate professional help\nE – Encourage self-help and other support strategies\n\nPlease note\, participants must attend both days of the training. \nFor further information\, including how to book your free place\, please view the Falkirk Health Improvement Team online Training Brochure for 2025/26 (linked for your convenience). \nAlternatively\, for further information on the training offered by NHS Forth Valley’s Health Promotion Teams across the 3 local authority areas\, visit the dedicated page.

DESCRIPTION:Third Sector Human Rights and Equalities (THRE) is holding a free online training course\, “Volunteering – A Human Rights and Equalities First Approach”\, on Tuesday 14 October 2025\, 1pm – 4pm\, via Zoom (with regular breaks throughout the session). \n\n\n\nThe course is open to anyone working in Scotland’s third sector who is responsible for or involved with a volunteering programme\, and is interested in learning why and how to take a human rights and equalities approach to their work. \nThe course will cover: \n\nwhat a human rights and equalities first approach is\nhow human rights and equalities are relevant to participants’’ volunteering programme\nhow to apply human rights and equalities to volunteer recruitment practices and the culture of participants’ volunteering programme\n\nTo book your place\, or for further information\, please visit the Eventbrite page.
