DESCRIPTION:Families Outside’s next CPD-accredited training for professionals takes place on Wednesday 17 September 2025\, 9:30am – 12:30pm\, via Microsoft Teams. \n“The Impact of Imprisonment on Children and Families” is suitable for professionals from any sector who want to feel more confident when supporting families affected by imprisonment in their own role. (Previous sessions have been attended by education professionals\, social workers and those in the third sector.) \nBy the end of the training session\, participants should be able to: \n\nbetter understand the impact of imprisonment on children and families\, including the most common issues facing families\ngive examples of how a family might be affected at each stage of the criminal justice process\napply their knowledge when supporting families affected by imprisonment and feel confident when supporting them\n\nThe training modules incorporate a mix of learning styles\, and provides opportunities to interact with other participants from different professional backgrounds and sectors. SUMMARY:Creating Hope with Peer Support: Forth Valley Learning & Networking Event
DESCRIPTION:Join the Scottish Recovery Network for a free Creating Hope with Peer Support learning and networking event\, on Wednesday 17 September 2025\, 10am – 4pm\, at Forth Valley College (Stirling campus)\, Drip Road\, Stirling\, FK8 1SE. \nThis in-person workshop is part of the Scottish Recovery Network’s series designed to empower Peer Supporters\, Peer Workers\, volunteers\, and individuals with lived experience who are supporting people affected by suicide. It aims to provide practical\, hands-on training structured around the 4 stage Creating Hope with Peer Support Pathway — Connect\, Explore\, Hope\, Support. \nParticipants will engage in reflective discussions\, skill-building activities\, and shared experiences in a supportive peer environment. The event is designed around smaller group sizes to foster in-depth dialogue\, mutual learning\, and tailored action planning. \n“By attending\, local Peer Supporters and lived‑experience individuals will enhance not only their own capabilities but also contribute to building supportive networks across Forth Valley.” \nWho Should Attend\n\nPeer Supporters or Peer Workers operating within groups or services\nvolunteers or individuals with lived experience seeking to build confidence in supporting others impacted by suicide\n\nThe workshop is aimed at those living or working in Scotland\, particularly within the Forth Valley community\, due to funding arrangements. \nWhat to Expect\n\na full-day interactive session taking place 10am – 4pm\, including lunch and refreshments\ninsight into peer relationships grounded in lived experience and emotional connection\nbreakdown of the Creating Hope Pathway\, offering guidance for compassionate peer support\nsafe space for reflection\, idea exchange\, and peer-to-peer encouragement\n\nAccessibility and Resources\nAttendees can request accessibility support\, including British Sign Language (BSL) interpreters and electronic notetakers—requests should be made at least two weeks in advance.
