SUMMARY:"Driving Change: A Tour to Reduce Gambling Harms" Training Event
DESCRIPTION:“Gambling harms can impact on so many aspects of a person’s life; finances\, relationships\, mental health\, physical health\, housing\, career\, educational attainment\, community cohesion\, crime and GP/hospital visits to name a few\, all of which have a considerable cost on our Scottish Local Authorities. It is estimated that gambling harms cost FALKIRK as a local authority £2.7 million a year\, STIRLING as a local authority £1.8 million a year and cost CLACKMANNANSHIRE £0.8 million a year as a local authority. \n“So what can we all do as people in helping roles? What kind of support is there in Scotland for the people in your area?” \nTo highlight the support available locally for people affected by gambling harm\, the RCA Trust is holding a free event on Wednesday 3 September 2025\, 10am – 2pm at Falkirk Trinity Church\, Manse Place\, Falkirk\, FK1 1JN. \n“Driving Change: A Tour to Reduce Gambling Harm” will be held in partnership with FastForward (whose focus is to raise awareness of gambling harms with young people across Scotland) and Cyrenians Chances Gambling Support (supporting people who are experiencing or at risk of homelessness\, who are negatively impacted by gambling). \nThe RCA Trust is the main support provider for gambling-related harms in Scotland. Formerly known as the Renfrew Council on Alcohol\, the organisation was established in 1977 providing community-based alcohol and gambling related prevention and treatment services in Scotland. \nThe aim of the event is to engage with professionals within these local authorities who would like to learn more about gambling harms and how to support people in local communities who engage with gambling products. \nThe event is free\, but booking is required. Lunch and refreshments (including tea and coffee) will be provided. \nTo book your free place\, or for further information\, please visit the Eventbrite page.
