Carers Week 2021

June 7 - June 13

Carers Week 2021 takes place Monday 7th June – Sunday 13th June, with a theme of “Make Caring Visible and Valued”. Falkirk and Clackmannanshire Carers Centre has organised a week full of online events and activities to celebrate carers of all ages and their efforts – the majority of these will take place via Zoom, and support is available for anyone unfamiliar with Zoom.

Volunteering For All Expo: The Road to Recovery

Volunteer Scotland, Scottish Government and other partners will hold their online event, “Volunteering For All Expo: The Road to Recovery” on Thursday 10th June, 10am – 11:30am. The Expo will examine the impact of COVID-19 on volunteering in Scotland, the issues we face now, and the solutions to support us on our “Road to Recovery”.

Musical Memories with Strathcarron Hospice

Strathcarron Hospice is running further online Storytelling sessions, and has also added a new Musical Memories event each month. The sessions are designed to be relaxed and informal, providing some light relief from the current pandemic. They are open to everyone; you do not need to have a connection to the Hospice to attend. The sessions all begin at 2pm via Zoom, on: Musical Memories: Thursday 15th April, Thursday 6th May and Thursday 10th June; Storytelling: Tuesday 20th April, Tuesday 18th May, Tuesday 22nd June.

Clackmannanshire Good Food Conversation

Forth Environment Link (FEL) is carrying out research on sustainable and dignified solutions to local food insecurity, in partnership with NHS Forth Valley, local councils and local Third Sector Interfaces. FEL wants to hear from organisations involved in food projects, community groups, businesses and individuals with an interest in tackling food poverty. They will also be hosting 3 online sessions to spark conversations around good food: Falkirk Good Food Conversation on Wednesday 2nd June, 3pm – 5pm; Stirling Good Food Conversation on Thursday 3rd June, 10am – 12pm; Clackmannanshire Good Food Conversation on Thursday 10th June, 2pm – 4pm.

NHS Forth Valley “Ask, Tell” Mental Health Workshops (Series 7)

NHS Forth Valley has confirmed dates for their next Ask Tell mental health workshops, with Series 7 beginning on Thursday 27th May, 2pm – 3pm via Microsoft Teams. The workshops cover mental wellbeing, suicide prevention and having compassionate conversations with people who are experiencing mental distress or may be feeling suicidal.

The Falkirk Plan: Engaging with Ethnic Minority Communities

As part of their engagement around the Falkirk Plan, Falkirk Community Planning Partnership is now particularly looking for the views and perspectives of people from ethnic minority communities, especially around the additional and unique issues and challenges they have experienced. They will host an online meeting on Thursday 10th June, 7pm – 9pm, for this purpose.
