SUMMARY:Youth and Philanthropy Initiative Networking Session
DESCRIPTION:The Wood Foundation (TWF) invites charities who have worked with young people through the Youth and Philanthropy Initiative (YPI) to a networking session on Tuesday 29th November\, 4pm – 6pm at The Merchants House of Glasgow\, 7 West George Street\, Glasgow\, G2 1BA. \nSince launching YPI in Scotland in 2008\, more than £6 million has been granted to small grassroots charities. This year\, 280 schools will take part in YPI and close to 40\,000 young people will advocate for social issues they are passionate about supporting in their community. Through YPI\, young people can connect with charities to build knowledge and gain a better understanding of the charity’s facts\, figures and stories which brings their work to life. Young people will also work with charities to create a business case to showcase the impact a £3\,000 grant would have in the local area. One winning team per school will be given £3\,000 of unrestricted funding to grant to their chosen charity. \n“YPI would not exist without the support of Scotland’s third sector. TWF greatly value the time charities colleagues devote to meeting with young people and connecting with schools.” \nAs part of their aim to continue improving the experience of engaging with young people through YPI\, TWF is hosting a networking focus group for both winning and finalist charities to understand how young people engage\, the challenges and the legacy of YPI. \nThere will be time for networking with other local charities\, TSIs and The Wood Foundation team\, before breaking into smaller facilitated focus groups to gain a deeper understanding of how young people have worked with attendees’ charity in the past. \nFor further information\, including how to book your place\, please contact Lucia Giuntoli by email: Lucia.Giuntoli@thewoodfoundation.org.uk
