SUMMARY:Young Carers Awareness Day 2020
DESCRIPTION:The annual Young Carers Awareness Day\, led by Carers Trust\, takes place on Thursday 30th January this year. \nAccording to Carers Trust\, every day across the UK\, thousands of young people help to look after someone in their family\, or a friend\, who is ill\, disabled\, or uses drugs or alcohol. Research shows that one in 5 secondary school children may be a young carer. For many\, their caring journey begins at a much younger age. \nCaring for someone can be isolating\, worrying and stressful. For young carers\, this can negatively impact on their experiences and outcomes in education\, having a lasting effect on their life chances. \nThrough their “Count Me In!” campaign for 2020\, Carers Trust is calling on compulsory education providers to do more to proactively identify young carers and to ensure that they receive the recognition and support they deserve. \nCarers Trust has also launched online resources to help people plan how they can get involved and how to campaign for greater support for young carers and their needs. \nPeople can also get involved on social media\, using the hashtags #CountMeIn and #YoungCarersAwarenessDay\, or #YCAD. \nFor further information\, including all resources\, please visit the Carers Trust website.
