SUMMARY:World AIDS Day 2023
DESCRIPTION:To mark World AIDS Day 2023\, NHS Forth Valley’s Central Sexual Health (CSH) service has shared an update on current developments in HIV treatment and care\, and information on local and national activity focusing on support for people living with HIV. \nTaking place annually on 1st December\, World AIDS Day aims to highlight the real experiences of people living with HIV today\, while celebrating the strength\, resilience and diversity of communities most affected. \nAs of December 2022\, an estimated 6\,613 people with HIV in Scotland; in Forth Valley\, CSH clinics are held twice a week offering support\, treatment and healthcare. Most people living with HIV only need to attend the service twice per year for a regular check-up. \nThe Winter 2023 update includes details on the national campaign against stigma\, backed by Scottish Government-funded research (released in October 2023) which reported a lack of knowledge on how much progress has been made in the fight against HIV in the last 40 years. \nThere is also information on progress towards ending HIV transmission in Scotland by 2030\, the Forth Valley condom distribution service\, and the free condoms by post scheme. \nFor further information\, please view or download the Winter 2023 update as a pdf.
