SUMMARY:Webinar: “Supporting children/teens with ASN with their transition back to schooling”
DESCRIPTION:With funding from Scottish Government’s Wellbeing Fund\, Children in Scotland is running a series of webinars throughout the summer for parents and carers on supporting children and young people with additional support needs (ASN).  (Professionals are also welcome.) \nThe next sessions are: \n\n“Supporting children/teens with ASN to manage health anxieties” on Monday 20th July\, 3pm – 4:30pm; key points will include helping children with ASN to explore and express their feelings\, identifying the difference between health anxiety and general anxiety\, and creating strategies to help children manage their health anxieties with the adults that support them.\n“Understanding children’s rights and additional support requirements” on Thursday 23rd July\, 10am – 12pm; an interactive session covering additional support for learning (ASL) legislation\, children’s rights to education\, and “My Rights\, My Say”\, which supports children in Scotland aged 12 – 15 years old with ASN to exercise their rights to be involved in decisions about their support in school.\n“Supporting children/teens with ASN with their transition back to schooling” on Friday 31st July\, 3pm – 4:30pm; this session covers strategies and tools to introduce the idea of returning to school (including how to communicate effectively with school staff)\, resources to help navigate the new rules within schools (eg. regarding social distancing)\, and how to navigate the uncertainty of COVID-19 when communicating with your children.\n\nTickets for each session are free\, though there are options to add donations. \nTo book your place\, or for further information\, please click on the relevant session title above. \nAlternatively\, for information on all Children in Scotland’s upcoming webinars and training sessions\, visit their Eventbrite page.
