SUMMARY:SYP 2023 Elections: Application Deadline
DESCRIPTION:Applications for the Scottish Youth Parliament (SYP) Elections are open. \nYoung people aged 14 – 25 years old are invited to stand as a candidate to represent the voice of children and young people in their area. \nThe SYP is the democratically elected voice of Scotland’s young people\, with around 160 young people elected every 2 years to represent every part of Scotland and campaign for positive change. Being a Member of the SYP (MSYP) involves representing young people\, making sure decision-makers uphold their rights\, and running impactful campaigns. MSYPs meet online and in person throughout the year\, and being an MSYP is a great way to develop skills and confidence as a leader\, an activist\, and a change-maker. \nYoung people who will be aged between 14 – 25 years old on Sunday 19th November 2023 can stand as a MSYP in 2 ways: \n\nAs one of 2 MSYPs in their local constituency – SYP constituencies are the same as the Scottish Parliament constituencies\, and can be found via the Scottish Parliament\nThrough a number of voluntary organisations which have representative MSYPs; young people must already be a member of one of these organisations to stand and represent them.\n\nSYP is also holding evening information sessions\, 6pm – 7pm\, for those who would like to know more about the SYP\, its role and its policy\, events and campaigns\, and what is involved in being a MSYP – all dates are available on the booking page\, with the next session taking place Thursday 29th June. \nThe deadline for applications is Monday 31st July.
