SUMMARY:Stirling Reclaim the Night March 2020
DESCRIPTION:The Forth Valley Rape Crisis Centre (FVRCC) will be holding their annual Reclaim the Night March and afterparty on Thursday 12th March in Stirling\, to coincide with International Women’s Day on Sunday 8th March. \nParticipants will meet at the Stirling Castle Esplanade car park at 6:30pm\, with the march beginning at 7pm\, making its way through Stirling towards the afterparty The Green Lounge\, Stirling Indoor Bowling Club\, Riverside\, FK8 1UE\, for 8pm. \nGlow sticks\, lights\, placards\, and things to make noise during the march are welcomed and encouraged. The afterparty will feature a raffle\, stalls\, food and speakers. \nFVRCC ask that those interested in taking part let them know if they have any access requirements\, or if there is anything they as organisers can do to make the march feel safer\, in order to best support everyone during the march and afterparty. \nEveryone is welcome to take part. \nReclaim the Night started in the UK in 1977\, when women marched through the streets in Leeds to protest a night-time curfew on women\, which was part of the police’s response to the Yorkshire Ripper murders. \nMarches are now organised in order to protest against rape and sexual violence\, and to support a woman’s right to walk the streets without fear. \nFor further information on the Stirling march\, please visit the Facebook page\, or view the march poster.
