SUMMARY:“Place Making in the Park” Programme
DESCRIPTION:The Social Enterprise Hub in Loch Lomond is holding a 2 day programme for anyone interested in undertaking developments (such as community asset transfers or “right to buy” situations)\, Wednesday 29th January – Thursday 30th January\, 9:30am – 4pm in Tyndrum\, Stirlingshire. \nThe venue will be confirmed on booking. \nIn addition to those interested in local developments\, “Place Making in the Park” is open to those who want to ensure their community has a greater say in the design\, delivery and location of services\, and use of land. This includes members of community councils and development trusts. \nThe programme recognises the increased emphasis from statutory bodies on “place-based planning” and the role community organisations can play in the planning landscape. Participants will look at examples of communities engaging in planning\, including the National Park Authority perspective\, and have the opportunity to reflect on the resulting opportunities and challenges in their own areas. \nAmongst other skills\, the programme supports learning around building relationships\, lobbying and negotiating and community representation. Guest contributors will include 2 case studies (with one local contributor)\, along with speaker Petra Biberbach\, Chief Executive of PAS (Planning Aid Scotland). “Place Making in the Park” will be led by a facilitator and social entrepreneur with a track record in this subject area. \nThe overall aims of the programme are to help participants: \n\nunderstand the key planning landscape at local\, area and regional level and particularly understand what goes on in the National Park area and how the National Park Authority works with communities\nreflect upon the challenges associated with effective community engagement and representation using case studies and peer reflection\nlearn from other communities about tools and techniques being used to create robust community plans\, with guest speakers to support this\nidentify a number of influencing and community leadership techniques essential for good partnership working\nprepare a personal action plan to help you generate more impact in local “place making”\n\nTo book your place\, or for further information\, please visit the Social Enterprise Academy website. \nAlternatively\, contact Fiona Paul by email: Fiona.Paul@lochlomond-trossachs.org
