SUMMARY:Mental Health and Wellbeing Strategy for Scotland Consultation Deadline
DESCRIPTION:Scottish Government is developing a new Mental Health and Wellbeing Strategy for Scotland\, and are looking for people to give their thoughts\, views and experiences via an online survey. \nThe Strategy will be equality and human rights based\, and guide the work Scottish Government (and their partners) will do to improve mental health and wellbeing in Scotland. This will include an overall shared vision\, a set of outcomes\, and how they aim to achieve these to improve people’s mental health and wellbeing. It will also describe how they will measure the differences made. \nThey are keen to ensure that the Strategy does the right things to improve mental health and wellbeing for people in Scotland\, and to include the views of people with experience of mental health issues. \nScottish Government also wants to know people’s views on whether the draft overall vision\, and draft outcomes\, are the right ones. \nThey want the Strategy to focus on every part of what mental health and wellbeing means\, which covers a range of items\, including: \n\naddressing the underlying reasons behind poor mental health\nhelping to create the conditions for people to thrive\nchallenging the stigma around mental health\nproviding specialist help and support for mental illness\n\nThe Strategy will guide how Scottish Government provides support to everyone who has a role in improving and supporting people’s mental health and wellbeing. This ranges from the specialist mental health workforce to those working in all health and social care settings\, in communities\, schools\, police custody suites\, and prisons\, and includes “the invaluable support of volunteers and unpaid carers”. \nThe Strategy will mainly cover the next 5 years\, until 2027. However\, it will set out a much longer term vision and outcomes for the mental health and wellbeing of the population. \nThe deadline for responses is Friday 9th September. \nTo submit your response\, or for further information\, please visit the Scottish Government consultation website.
