SUMMARY:“I’m Still Here” Free Documentary Screening
DESCRIPTION:To mark Refugee Week 2022\, Napier University has organised free public screenings of “I’m Still Here” – a short documentary made with refugees and asylum seekers in Glasgow during the COVID-19 pandemic – including a Falkirk screening\, taking place tomorrow\, Saturday 18th June. \nThe screening takes place from 4pm at St Francis Xavier Church\, Hope Street\, Falkirk\, FK1 5AT. \nThe film is based on visual diaries recorded by asylum seekers themselves\, capturing their everyday experiences living in temporary accommodations in the city\, including mothers and their children living in the Mothers and Baby Unit. The documentary is part of a year-long collaboration study which began in November 2020\, and was co-produced with Migrants Organising for Rights and Empowerment (MORE). \nThe event will include a talk from local historian\, Ian Scott\, on the history of migration to Falkirk\, a live music performance from Newroz Ensemble\, a Kurdish-Iranian refugee band based in Glasgow\, and homemade food prepared by refugees and migrants living in Scotland. \nEveryone is welcome. \nTo book your place\, or for further information\, please visit the Eventbrite page.
