SUMMARY:Human Development Scotland ISE with Deirdre Dowling
DESCRIPTION:Human Development Scotland (HDS) is holding “An Intensive Study Event(ISE) with Deirdre Dowling” on Wednesday 17th November\, 1:30pm – 4pm\, via Zoom. \nDrawing on the ideas of Donald Winnicott\, speaker Deirdre Dowling will be reflecting on the importance of play and creativity\, and when children struggle with these processes. Her presentation is designed to stimulate thought and discussion about the role of children’s imaginary play\, the concept of the transitional space\, and the potential of the therapeutic relationship as a creative endeavour between patient and therapist. \nMrs Dowling is a Consultant Child and Adolescent and Adult Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist\, member of the Association of Child and Adolescent Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy and British Psychotherapy Foundation. She worked in the Family Service at the Cassel Hospital\, an NHS residential therapeutic assessment and treatment service\, in Richmond\, Surrey\, for many years and has her own private practice. \nMrs Dowling’s particular interests are parent-infant psychotherapy\, working with children and adolescents in distress\, and family work. \nThe ISE is free to attend for current students and associated staff on the Professional Doctorate and Clinical Training in Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy (CAP) and MSc in Psychoanalytic Observation & Reflective Practice: Therapeutic Work with Children & Young People (TWCYP) courses. \nPlaces at the ISE are limited to 10 people (not including students and staff who are currently part of the CAP and TWCYP training programmes mentioned above)\, and cost £30 each. \nThe deadline for bookings is 5pm on Monday 8th November. \nTo book your place\, or for further information (the full ISE programme)\, please visit the HDS website.
