Hate Crime on Public Transport: Alloa Event

September 5, 2018 @ 11:00 am - 3:00 pm

Free

Disability Equality Scotland, in partnership with Police Scotland, Transport Scotland and South East of Scotland Transport Partnership (SEStran), are holding a free Hate Crime on Public Transport event on Wednesday 5th September, 11am – 3pm (with registration open from 10:45am) at Alloa Town Hall, Mars Hill, Alloa, FK10 1AB.

Hate crime remains an issue on public transport for people from equalities groups, and Transport Scotland are keen to develop a national Hate Crime Charter, which would set out a series of pledges to tackle hate crime. Transport providers would sign up to this charter, pledging their commitment to tackling hate crime.

This event will bring together people who experience hate crime (including disabled people), other equality organisations and transport providers to discuss all forms of hate crime on public transport, discussing steps to take in order to combat it, and the potential for a Hate Crime Charter, including what it would need to contain to be useful, and how a charter could be implemented and monitored to make a difference.

There will also be presentations from Police Scotland and from people detailing their own experiences of hate crime on public transport.

The event is free, and lunch will be provided, but spaces are limited, so booking is essential.

To book your place, or for further information, please visit the Eventbrite page.
