SUMMARY:Growing Your Own Food From Scraps Event with RVS Forth Valley
DESCRIPTION:Royal Voluntary Service (RVS) Forth Valley’s “First Time for Everything” Project is holding a free “Growing Your Own Food From Scraps” event on Thursday 22nd February\, 4pm – 6pm\, in collaboration with Transition Stirling. \nTaking place at Transition Stirling’s office\, 5 Wellgreen Lane\, Stirling\, FK8 2BS\, participants will learn to grow food from scraps – the parts of food which would normally be thrown away. The event will cover growing your own mushrooms from leftovers and cardboard\, regrowing from scraps like herbs\, and onions. \nFor those who would prefer to drive to the event\, parking is available via a NCP carpark across the road from Transition Stirling (payment required); free parking is also available in the surrounding area\, but would require some walking to Transition Stirling. \nThe First Time for Everything Project is a collaborative between RVS and the People’s Postcode Lottery\, providing people with opportunities to try something new for free in their local community\, and is aimed particularly at those aged 55 years old and over\, or who have underlying health conditions. The activities available support physical and mental health and wellbeing\, and digital literacy\, “because staying active and social have been proven to be important to keeping fit and well as we age”. \nTo book your place\, or for further information\, please contact Kimberley Gray by phone or text: 07824547865\, or email: kimberley.gray@royalvoluntaryservice.org.uk
