SUMMARY:Charities (Scotland) Bill: Call for Views Deadline
DESCRIPTION:Scottish Parliament’s Social Justice and Social Security Committee has issued a call for written views on the Charities (Regulation and Administration) (Scotland) Bill\, with the third sector invited to respond. \nUnder the proposals in the Charities (Regulation and Administration) (Scotland) Bill\, the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator (OSCR)\, would have wider powers to investigate charities and charity trustees. Rules around who can be a charity trustee or senior office-holder in a charity would also be tightened. \nThe proposed changes to the law were developed following suggestions from OSCR. Some of the changes are intended to ensure Scottish legislation is in line with updated legislation in England and Wales. \nFurther information about the Bill is available via the Scottish Parliament website. \nThe Committee wants to understand what impact the changes in the Bill might have\, especially on smaller charities and to understand if there are any issues\, eg. in terms of equalities and unintended consequences. \nThey are keen to hear from all charities across Scotland\, no matter their size; in order to make the process as easy as possible\, they have created 2 ways for charities to share their views online: either through a detailed consultation\, or a short survey. \nDetailed Consultation\nThis part of the public consultation includes general questions about the Bill\, questions about the Financial Memorandum and the option to provide more detailed comments on individual sections of the Bill. \nTo submit your views to the detailed consultation\, please visit the dedicated Your Views page. \nDigital Survey\nThe digital survey offers an opportunity for a charity to give their views on the bill without the time and resource required to complete the detailed consultation. \nTo respond to the shorter digital survey\, please visit the dedicated page. \nThe deadline for all responses is Friday 3rd February. \nFor further information\, visit the Scottish Parliament consultation website.
