SUMMARY:Bairns’ Hoose Standards Consultation Event
DESCRIPTION:Children in Scotland’s VOICES membership and Supporting the Third Sector Project (STTS) will be hosting a consultation event on the Bairns’ Hoose Standards\, on Wednesday 12th October\, 2pm – 4pm via Zoom. \nGuest speakers will include Henry Mathias\, Head of Professional Codes and Practice at The Care Inspectorate\, and Louise Hill\, Head of Policy\, Evidence and Impact at Children 1st. \nEvent Background \nBarnahus (Bairns’ Hoose)\, or Child’s House\, is a child-centred response for children who are victims or witnesses of serious crime and abuse. \nAgreeing national standards is the first step in the journey for Scotland to establish Bairns’ Hoose. The Care Inspectorate and Healthcare Improvement Scotland (HIS) have worked together to develop integrated standards for health\, social care and social work. \nThe 11 draft Standards (linked for your convenience) set out what the vision will mean in reality for the children and young people\, and their families\, as well as for the professionals who will work to support with them throughout their journey to justice and recovery.  The standards will also provide a blueprint for delivery\, and support consistent national implementation of Bairns’ Hoose\, which will be driven by the National Bairns’ Hoose Governance Group. \nEvent Aims\nDuring the consultation event\, Children in Scotland and STTS are keen to hear from people how the standards promote: \n\nchildren’s rights and how they are reflected throughout the standards\nreducing trauma and promoting recovery\nthe design and environment of any Bairns’ Hoose buildings\nconfidentiality and information sharing\nplanning and evaluation of services\n\nThe discussions during this event will help form Children in Scotland’s response to the draft standards. \nTo book your place\, or for further information\, please contact Children in Scotland’s GIRFEC team by email: girfec@childreninscotland.org.uk
