16 Days of Action 2017

November 25, 2017 - December 10, 2017

16 Days of Action is an annual international campaign that calls for the elimination of violence against women and children.

This year, it runs from Saturday 25th November (UN International Day of Elimination of Violence against Women) to Sunday 10th December (International Human Rights Day), and includes World Aids Day on Friday 1st December.

Activities and events will take place across Forth Valley, including:

  • a screening of Hopscotch on Monday 27th November, 5pm – 6:3pm at the Speirs Centre, Primrose Street, Alloa, FK10 1AD. The film explores minority ethnic and Muslim women’s experiences of street harassment.
  • Forth Valley Rape Crisis’ second Reclaim the Night event, on Thursday 7th December from 6:30pm. This event is open to all genders; those wishing to take part should meet at the esplanade car park of Stirling Castle, Castle Wynd, Stirling, FK8 1EJ.
  • Open Secret and Wellbeing Scotland are holding a screening of Hidden in Silence, a documentary based on childhood sexual abuse in Scottish ethnic minority communities, on Thursday 30th November, 3pm at Alloa Cinema, Bank Street, Alloa, FK10 1HP. The film is directed and produced by Nauman Qureshi and Dr Javita Narang, and will be followed by a 30 minute panel discussion.  To book your place, visit the Eventbrite page.
