SUMMARY:16 Days of Action 2016 Forth Valley Conference
DESCRIPTION:The 16 Days of Action is an annual international campaign that calls for the elimination of all forms of violence against women.  This year\, it runs from Friday 25th November (UN International Day of Elimination of Violence against Women) to Saturday 10th December (International Human Rights Day)\, and includes World Aids Day on Friday 1st December. \nIn Scotland\, the campaign’s approach focuses on male violence against women\, recognising that while men and people in same sex relationships can also experience the various forms of violence or abuse\, in the vast majority of cases it will be women who experience them. \nActivities will take place across the Forth Valley area\, beginning with an opening conference on Friday 25th November\, 9:30am – 3:45pm at Forth Valley College\, Stirling Campus.  The conference\, titled “From Power and Control to Empowering and Protecting”\, will discuss domestic abuse\, coercive control\, stalking and other gender-based violence\, the conditions in which they occur.  There will also be analysis around current and future interventions to empower and protect survivors and those at risk. \nThe conference will also feature speakers who have carried out extensive research into gender-based violence\, alongside lead officers from organisations such as Police Scotland and the Prosecutor Fiscal service.  There will also be organisations in attendance who have a responsibility to combat gender-based violence in all its forms. \nTo book your place at the conference\, please contact Stirling Council by email: sinclairam@stirling.gov.uk \nAlternatively\, for further information on the conference\, the organisations taking part\, and the 16 Days of Action campaign\, please view their online brochure.
