Event Fundraising Volunteers

Falkirk Community Trust are looking for volunteers to join their event teamin November at this year’s Fireworks Display in Callendar Park.

The display and surrounding activities are attended by people of all ages from areas across Falkirk. Volunteers will also be able to watch the display.

Volunteers will help the team raise money for next year’s event, and will be given a collection can to accept donations from attendees.

Jupiter Community Upcycling Catalogue Available

Jupiter Community Upcycling is a new social enterprise run by The Conservation Volunteers (TCV) Scotland, which supports people from different backgrounds to learn new skills by recycling and upcycling using wood diverted from landfill, and has now launched their new catalogue with items for sale.

Creative Scotland Youth Arts Emergency Funding

Creative Scotland have released new funds to support project activity with children and young people, including the Youth Arts Small Grants Scheme (allows organisations and local authorities to apply for small grants funding of up to £50,000, to distribute £500 – £5,000 to freelance artists and creative practitioners, to deliver youth arts activities; deadline for applications is Monday 2nd November) and the Youth Arts Access Fund (offers grants of £5,000 – £30,000 to those who run youth arts programmes, to support activity from March 2021 onwards. Applications proposing specific actions and partnerships to tackle inequality will be prioritised; deadline for applications is Thursday 12th November).

New SDF Substance Use Glossary

The Scottish Drugs Forum (SDF) has published a new, free resource for use in the substance use field across Scotland. “Moving Beyond ‘People First Language’ – a glossary of contested terms in substance use” supports a consensus on key concepts and terms in substance use, by defining and explaining the cause and nature of the contention, and suggesting better practice in terms of language choices.
